  • Agent actions require governance. Every agent action that touches sensitive data or modifies system state should be logged, attributed, and auditable.
  • Permission inheritance is dangerous. When agents operate under human credentials or shared service accounts, they inherit permissions that may exceed their intended scope.
  • Context cannot be assumed. Agents do not understand organizational context. Guardrails must be explicit, not implicit.

Meta has confirmed the incident occurred but stated that "no user data was mishandled." The distinction — between internal exposure and external breach — may matter legally, but it does little to address the underlying governance gap that allowed the incident to occur.

The Path Forward
